Together We Make a Difference

The Gift of Open Source seeks to give back to the open source communities we are part of, by supporting organizations that are committed to making the open web a better place.

Unleash the Magic of Open Source

At Pantheon we believe the open web plays a critical role in solving many of today's most meaningful challenges. Whether you’re new to contributing or have been in the open source space for years, there are tons of ways to get involved so you too can leave your mark on the open web.

How Do I Contribute?

We invite contributions of all kinds! Open source enthusiasts from all backgrounds and skill levels are encouraged to contribute. In the spirit of inclusivity, both code + non code contributions will count towards participation.

To participate, simply add the “GiftofOpenSource” issue tag to the issue you are working on.

Be Extraordinary

Mentoring relationships are a shared opportunity for learning and development. Whether you’re an experienced developer, novice designer, or have a general passion for helping others navigate WordPress and Drupal, we’re always looking for mentors.

If you are interested in learning more about our mentorship opportunities, please email Community@pantheon.io

Welcome New Contributors!

Contributing to Open Source

Open Source software is built through contributions from the community. Being a contributor allows you to improve that software, but also learn and grow through the process.

How to Get Started

There are lots of ways to get started as a first time contributor! One of our favorites is First Timers Only - a guide that provides first time contributors with excellent tutorials and a list of good first issues to pick from to help you get started on your open source journey!

Share Your Experience

We would love to hear what you’re working on and how your experience is going! Share your work and progress in our forums using the gift-of-open-source tag and you might be featured in our wins for the week.

Calling all Open Source Maintainers

Share Your Project With Us

If you're a maintainer of an open source that could use contributions, we'd love for you to be a part of the Gift of Open Source! We are looking for projects that have open issues for documentation, code, testing, or project management. If you’re interested in including your project in our suggested list, please email community@pantheon.io.

Add the Gift of Open Source Tag to Your Issues

If you would like us to share your projects and encourage contributors to check them out, please make sure to use the #giftofopensource tag on those issues.
