Pantheon Releases Platform Updates to Enhance Security and Site Reliability

New features also expand automation capabilities and ease site management for web teams

SAN FRANCISCO (November 15, 2022) – Pantheon, the SaaS-based website (WebOps) platform for developers, designers, and marketers, today announced a suite of product enhancements that build on platform security, performance and automation. These updates drive site reliability, simplify management of large site portfolios, and improve critical elements of marketing campaign performance.

“We continue to optimize the platform to empower WebOps teams to deliver sites with unrivaled speed, uptime, and scalability,” said Meredith Brown, Pantheon chief product officer. “These updates address some of the central security and performance challenges facing today’s digital teams while enabling developers and marketers to execute quickly, with new levels of confidence.”

In a recent survey of marketing and IT leaders, nearly one-third (31%) say they anticipate security threats will be the biggest obstacle to their digital priorities over the next 2 years. As attack surfaces expand and threat approaches become increasingly sophisticated, organizations require a strong security posture to avoid impact to their sites.

This quarter, Pantheon introduced two new offerings that deliver enterprise-grade security and ensure site integrity. The Security Starter offering features a CMS-tuned Web Application Firewall (WAF), powered by Fastly, that detects and blocks malicious traffic requests. The Image Optimization (IO) Starter allows teams to enhance the end-user experience by improving page load times, which also can contribute to a boost in Google search rankings.

Continued Autopilot innovation also contributes to new levels of security. Now, enterprises can easily deploy and configure automated site updates in minutes across large site portfolios with Bulk Actions, speeding time to implement security patches and other facets of the web experience. By using Autopilot, organizations can save up to 30 minutes per site, per month – a productivity gain that allows teams to focus on more strategic work.

In addition to stronger security capabilities, new platform enhancements will help marketing teams improve campaign performance and metrics. IP reputation improvements better protect against email spammers and bots, giving marketers the confidence that their emails reach key audiences without being flagged as spam.

Other updates introduced this quarter include:

  • Front-End Sites: Decoupled CMS Upstreams expedite CMS feature delivery for Front-End Sites users, and updates to the Next.js Starter Kit substantially improve initial start-up times. Site management experience improvements, including Stable URLs, boost ease of use for both developers and content creators.

  • Improved SSH Authentication: Connections are now up to 10 times faster and more reliable with improved SSH Authentication. This release strengthens security and optimizes developer productivity for organizations with tens or hundreds of developers working simultaneously.
