Pantheon surveyed 1,000 marketing, engineering, and IT/security leaders across the U.S., UK, and DACH. Across all three functions, the same pattern emerged: AI accelerated content, code, and policy work, while validation, governance, measurement, and infrastructure remained manual or difficult to scale. 

Key findings:

AI accelerated creation. Validation became the shared bottleneck. Manual validation is an obstacle to scaling AI for 79% of marketing leaders, 78% of engineering leaders, and 83% of IT and security leaders.

Engineering teams move faster, but maintenance still eats up time. 68% of engineering leaders say they spend at least half their time maintaining existing code and infrastructure rather than working on net-new development.

AI crawler traffic is creating unplanned infrastructure exposure. 42% of IT leaders have confirmed unexpected billing disputes tied directly to crawler traffic, while another 41% suspect similar exposure but cannot confirm it.
