Direct GitHub Integration Is Now Generally Available on Pantheon

| 4 min read

Your GitHub repo, now integrated with Pantheon's infrastructure.

We've been heads-down since launching the GitHub Application in private beta last spring, gathering feedback and making sure it’s ready for teams who can't afford surprises in production.

Today, we're ready to say it out loud: direct integration with GitHub is now generally available for all Pantheon customers on Gold, Platinum, and Diamond Workspaces.

What this means for your team

Until now, getting code from GitHub onto Pantheon was a painful, multi-step process. It worked, but added overhead that slowed teams down and created opportunities for things to go wrong.

With our GitHub Application, that's behind you. Connect your GitHub repository to Pantheon and code moves automatically. Push a change or open a pull request and we handle the rest, automatically deploying to Multidev environments for PRs and to the Dev environment for your primary branch. No extra configuration, no additional tooling, just your normal GitHub workflow wired directly into Pantheon's infrastructure.

Two paths, one platform

We know that every development team has their own workflow, so we offer two integration options:

  1. GitHub Application: The simplest path. Once connected, it runs in the background. Code changes in GitHub trigger deployments to Pantheon automatically. It's designed for teams who want the straightest line from commit to environment without configuring anything extra.
  2. GitHub Action: For teams who already have CI pipelines and want code deployment to be one step inside a larger automated workflow. The push-to-pantheon GitHub Action gives you that flexibility.

Both options are available today. The GitHub Application is the new GA addition; the GitHub Action, launched last year, continues to be supported.

Available now with Terminus 4.2.0

The GitHub Application GA ships as part of the Terminus 4.2.0 release. If you're on Gold, Platinum, or Diamond and you're managing your Terminus installation via Homebrew, upgrade with:

If you installed via .phar, use:

This one's been a long time coming, and we're so glad to finally ship it to everyone.
