Package management is a concept that has existed in open source ecosystems for a long time. WordPress, however, has never had a dedicated package manager or even universally adopted an existing one the way Drupal did with Composer before Drupal 8. rtCamp Senior Software Engineer Lovekesh Kumar has developed a new, WordPress-native package management system that is intuitive and secure. We’ll be diving into wpm, the WordPress Package Manager, how it works and why WordPress needs its own dedicated artifact installer instead of just relying on Composer.
